TGDP Newsletter Summer 2023

TGDP Newsletter Summer 2023

Summertime- holiday time: sun’s out… time for relaxing and getting ready for the start of the Autumn term.

We hope you all had a relaxing summer, staycation or visiting friends and family here or abroad.

Practice updates:

There are a few changes to our Dental Team at the Practice: Ryan Beedour’ s year contract has now come to an end- we say goodbye to him and wish him well for the future. We welcome Leena Shafik, who will replace Ryan from mid-September. This is a year contract within the practice. Nina Stanford, our hygienist has now left, and we wish her all the best for her new venture in the Cotswold.

Charity event:

In previous years we did, to name a few, a Valentine’s Firewalk in aid of the Stroke Association, an Aerobic marathon for Human Trafficking: Hope for Justice, as well as East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice and Christel House, SA.

This year we have decided to participate in the Dragon Boat Race, on the 9th of September at Fen Ditton as our Charity event, raising money for page1image35412064. Most of us would have had some encounter with Addenbrookes Hospital in the past or now, some good and some maybe not so good. Therefore, we think it is a good charity to support.

Please support us either on the day, pop by and say hello or donate to our donation page https://www.justgiving.com/page/teamgablesboatrace. We will have a team of rowers, mixed with dentists and dental nurses, with the rest of the team as support.

New treatments:

In all walks of life, Technology has moved on, and so is the case in Dentistry. We are very dedicated to, maintaining and improving to the best standard, to helping our patients to look after their teeth.

As many of you have experienced, we have invested during lockdown in a new intra-oral scanner, which is a 3D imaging system, replacing taking impressions of your mouth and teeth. This has made a huge difference for those patients who gag easily, not having to worry about impressions.

As of the end of September’23 we will have EMS – treatment: Guided Biofilm Therapy, available for those with sensitive teeth, implants and staining. This is an amazing experience that is pain-free, with very little sensitivity.

This treatment will be £190 for the 1st appointment of 55 minutes. Thereafter it will be a 30-minute appointment of £95 to maintain your teeth. Air Flow ® uses a fine spray of warmed water & Erythritol PLUS powder to gently deep clean the tooth surface above and below the gum line. This minimally invasive technology is safe to use on all oral surfaces and difficult to reach places: enamel, dentine, soft tissues, restorations, orthodontic appliances & implants.

Oral Hygiene:

Although most of our patients maintain good oral hygiene, it may be a good idea to reflect on more oral hygiene tips. As we all know we should brush 2 times a day for 2 minutes. It is also equally important to use interdental brushes or floss to get the spaces between the teeth plaque-free.

For a toothbrush, we recommend trying the new Oral B- iO toothbrushes, which are freely available on the Oral B website, Amazon or Boots.

Thinking of a Birthday or Christmas gift and not sure what to give, an electric toothbrush is an ideal present. Teeth Whitening or rather Brightening, is also a great gift to a friend or to yourself. After all – as our logo says…

Most of us feel so much more confident to smile when our teeth look nice, and just by a few at home whitening sessions you can achieve a lovely brighter smile. We will also soon have a new take-home laser whitening kit. Costs for whitening starts from £425.
Please be careful if buying any whitening gels off the shelf or online. These products are not trial and tested and can be potentially harmful to your teeth.

All the products we use at The Gables, are tried and tested multiple times and therefore we know they are safe to use on our patients.

Book a whitening session for you or your friend.

Fee increase for our plan patients;

You will soon receive a letter for the change of plans names and the fees as of January’24 to bring all the fees in line with each other. Please contact us if you are unsure or have any questions once you have received your letter.

Missed appointments:

In the last month alone, we have had 22.5 hours of missed appointments. If you are unable to attend your appointment, then please either call us on 01223 248202 or email our Reception Team, [email protected] , please ensure this is done within 48 hours of the appointment. If you fail to attend appointments this could result with you losing your NHS place with us. Private treatment will incur a missed appointment charge and there is a charge of £45.00 for a missed appointment with the Hygienist. If you miss two Hygienist appointments, then the full charge will apply (£85.00).

Parking:

We are a busy 6 Surgery practice where parking is on a first-come, first served basis. Please allow plenty of time to park ahead of your appointment. If there is no space available in the car park, parking is available outside the Co-Op (opposite the Practice) where you can park for one hour FREE.

Finally, as any business we rely on your constructive feedback, what we do well and where can we improve as well as your recommendations to family and friends.

So please give your feedback on your next visit or click on the link —> Feedback

All left to say is enjoy the rest of your summer and see you all at your next visit.
