PATIENT INFORMATION
Welcome to The Gables Dental Practice.
Whether you’re a new or returning patient, we want you to feel informed and confident when you arrive. Below you’ll find helpful information to ensure your visit goes smoothly. Our commitment is to provide you with outstanding dental care whether that’s for general maintenance, achieving optimum oral hygiene or to provide you with a dazzling new smile.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR VISIT
GETTING HERE AND PARKING
We have a small car park available for patient use. However, spaces are limited and parking is on a first come first serve basis and at your own risk. We recommend arriving a few minutes early in case the car park is full. There is also off-street parking available in nearby roads.
PATIENT FORMS
You may be asked to complete some paperwork when you arrive, such as medical history updates or new patient registration forms. Please try to fill these out online before you arrive, alternatively please allow a little extra time for this when planning your visit.
PRIVATE AND NHS DENTAL CARE
APPOINTMENT TIMINGS
Our dentists strive to provide the highest level of care to every patient. Sometimes, this means appointments can run over if someone needs additional time or unexpected issues arise. We appreciate your patience and understanding if there is a slight wait — we promise to give you the same care and attention when it’s your turn.
COLD SORES AND YOUR APPOINTMENT
If you have a cold sore, please let us know before your appointment. You will be asked to send a photo of the cold sore to enquiries@thegablesdentalpractice.co.uk so that your dentist can make an assesment as to proceed with treatment or postphone treatment. Cold sores (caused by the herpes simplex virus) are highly infectious and, in rare cases, can lead to serious complications — such as if the virus enters the eyes, potentially leading to blindness. Safety is our priority for both patients and staff.
WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS- HEALTH AND SAFETY
Our dental chairs have a manufacturer-recommended weight limit of 20 stone (125kg). If you exceed this weight, please let us know ahead of time. We are committed to inclusive care and will work with you to make suitable arrangements.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
If you haven’t recieved or are unsure about your treatment plan, don’t be afraid to ask questions. We want you to feel completely informed and confident before starting any treatment. If something is unclear — say something — we’re here to help.
RUBBER DAM USE
Some treatments require the use of a rubber dam to keep the area dry and protected during procedures. If you’d like to learn more, please visit our detailed explanation here: Rubber Dam – What It Is and Why We Use It
CANCELLATIONS AND MISSED APPOINTMENTS
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule appointments – if not – a fail-to-attend fee may apply. Missed hygienist appointments are charged at £45. Dental appointments will be a discretionary fee. in some cases deposits may be required to secure bookings
WHEELCHAIR & ACCESSABILITY ACCESS
We have wheelchair-accessible downstairs surgeries at the practice. If you require accessibility arrangements, please let us know before your appointment so we can ensure everything is in place for your comfort. If you have historically recieved your treatment upstairs but you can no longer use the stairs please let us know so that we can make alternative arrangements.
