QUALIFICATION: BCHD PRETORIA 1983

Dr Manie Opperman graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1983. After completing two years of compulsory national service, followed by two years serving as a Captain in the army, he began his career in private practice. In 1987, he acquired his first dental practice in Centurion, South Africa, where his passion for implantology and minor oral surgery grew. His commitment to innovation led to the development of an implant system in 1992.

In 1994, Dr Opperman relocated to England. After focusing initially on general dentistry, he deepened his expertise in implantology and dental occlusion, the precise science of how teeth meet and function. In 2000, he became the principal dentist at Hockerill Dental Practice, where he continued to refine his skills in general dentistry.

Dr Opperman has a special interest in minor oral surgery and implantology, working extensively with the BICON implant system, known for its reliability and patient-focused design. His good sense of humour and approachable nature help to put patients at ease, ensuring a relaxed and positive dental experience.

Outside of dentistry, Manie is a keen cyclist and gym enthusiast, and he enjoys watching cricket and rugby. He’s also passionate about crafting the perfect cup of coffee and spending quality time with his family. Proudly married with four daughters and two grandkids, family remains at the heart of his life.

Dr Opperman is excited to be part of The Gables Dental Practice team and looks forward to providing the community with exceptional care and expertise.
